Frequently Asked Questions | Tucson Carpet Cleaning
Q: Normal versus Special
There should be no differentiation between a “normal” cleaning job and “special” cleaning job. Cleaning is cleaning. Diligent effort must be made to remove as much soil as possible from the carpet. And technicians must take steps to leave fibers as residue-free as possible to prevent accelerated resoiling.
Q: What cleaning method does Tucson Carpet Cleaning use?
Most people agree there are dozens of ways to clean carpets. We don’t. We believe there is only one method that completely, consistently and successfully removes foreign particulate from textiles. It’s called good old heat and vacuum. And lot’s of it. The mills agree with us. All major textile manufacturers are in agreement that “hot water extraction with maximum moisture and residue removal” is the right way to take care of their goods. This is where brute power comes into play. More vacuum means a better clean, faster drying, faster cleaning, and much happier clients, there’s no two ways about it.
Most mobile cleaning plants in our industry don’t even come close to the Herculean Power of our patented system. Tucson Carpet Cleaning and our mighty “state of the art” system will clean your carpets like never before. You’ll be amazed by the freshness, the look and feel of your super clean carpets.
Q: Do you vacuum?
At Tucson Carpet Cleaning we perform a dry soil extraction with a heavy duty commercial vacuum cleaner in order to remove the deep down, fiber damaging dry soils from your carpeting before wet cleaning. This vacuum has a true HEPA filter designed to capture the finest dirt as well as dust might poop, pet dander, pollens and other allergens. It also removes dead skin embedded in the carpet, upholstery and beds. Did you know that the average person sheds about a gram and one half of skin every day! This skin is what dust mites live on.
Q: I've heard that carpeting re-soils more quickly after it has been cleaned?
This is true if hire the "cheap guys". They're cheap because they have to save time and money. So they have to use the cheapest cleaning solutions and the cheapest equipment. Most won't provide the proper training for their technicians. And most do not even realize that soft water aids in the removal detergent residues.
If detergent is left in the carpet, accelerated re-soiling will occur. We use the most thorough method of cleaning that rinses after the pre-spray process. This method removes deep down soil and leaves no detergent to accelerate the re-soiling process.
Q: We Use Only Soft Water to Clean Your Carpeting - So What?:
FACT: According to the U.S. Geological Survey, 85% of the water in the United States contains hardness minerals.
FACT: The School of Consumer & Family Sciences at Purdue University recently conducted a study which proved that the life of clothing and household textiles (such as carpet) was prolonged up to 15 percent when they were washed in conditioned water.
THE RESULTS: The soft water increases the detergents cleaning properties and the results are simply amazing: soft, fluffy carpeting that is as clean and bacteria free as possible.
Q: Can You Use Your Carpets Immediately?
The Herculean power on our state of the art system insures that you'll have as little dry time as possible. Most carpets are dry in 1 hour. All of our clients get carpet booties to slip over your socks or shoes so that you can use your carpet immediately.
Q: What type of chemicals do you use? Are they safe?
We are very proud of the fact that we use a soap free product that is colorless, odorless, non-toxic, totally sudless, leaves no soapy residue whatsoever.
Q:Do you move the furniture?
Our regular pricing includes moving sofas, chairs, tables, end tables, etc. Beds, entertainment centers and heavier pieces are left in place due to liability issues.
Q: Do you clean Berber?
Absolutely, Berber is a weave, not a particular type of fabric. Berber is simply a type of loop construction that may come in olefin, nylon, wool, or a blend. Berber requires a more thorough cleaning than other carpets because the "flushing" action needs to take place to get under, around, and through the loops. Other companies that are not as thorough as we are do have problems with Berber because of leaving soil behind that "wicks" back to the surface.
Q: I have spots that always seem to come back after a few days?
Tucson Carpet Cleaning has addressed this common problem by utilizing the Water Claw.
This tool is designed to rid both the carpet backing and pad of those tough spots caused by pets, food, or other spills. If a stain reappears within 30 days call us, we’ll be happy to come back and remove it.
Q: Do you remove odors?
In some cases our deep cleaning process will take care of minor pet problems. In many cases the urine has soaked through to the padding and to the floor, effective remediation will address each layer of the problem.
We offer two treatment programs. The first is a topical treatment for temporary odor relief; the second is our complete urine treatment program that is guaranteed to rid the problem. Tucson Carpet Cleaning accomplishes this buy a process called Sub Surface Extraction where the problem area is flooded with an odor neutralizer and is allowed to dwell for a few minutes. Then the Water Claw sub surface tool is used to extract the solution and odors out of the affected area and in to the trucks waste tank. This process may have to be repeated to ensure complete odor elimination.
When Tucson Carpet Cleaning professionally cleans your carpet, we remove all unwanted contaminants. As air circulates through your house the environment becomes cleaner and healthier.
Q: Do you apply a protector?
The Importance of Carpet Protectors
Carpet manufacturers apply protectors at the factory to help your carpets stay cleaner longer. But, with foot traffic and vacuuming, this protection wears off over time. Having the protector reapplied helps slow down the formation of traffic patterns by allowing you to get more dirt out of your carpet with your vacuum cleaner. And it gives you extra time to clean up spills before they turn into stains.
Steam Master recommends reapplying the protector which helps restore protective properties to your carpet, helping to extend its life and making it easier to care for.
TILE & GROUT
Q: I thought my tile floor was maintenance free?
Unfortunately this is not true. Your tile will never need to be replaced due to excessive wear, unlike other floor coverings that are in your home, but proper maintenance is necessary. Most tile surfaces are not completely flat. They have pores, which will collect and trap dirt.
Q: Why did the original color of my grout lines turn darker?
Most new tile installers, never take the time to return and seal the grout lines. Grout is a cement based material that is extremely porous. When cleaned improperly, dirt and liquids stay trapped within the pores and stain the grout. This tends to make the grout color look spotty and dark.
Q: Why should I have my Tile & Grout professionally cleaned?
Professional cleaners have been educated in the proper care and maintenance of your tile floors. The equipment and chemicals they use, are specifically designed for these surfaces. The use of Acidic & Alkaline chemicals, along with HOT pressurized water, will effectively restore your tile and grout, to its original beauty. Proper professional cleaning will remove 95% of the dirt, and restore your floor to “like new” condition.
Q: Why should my Grout lines be sealed?
Applying sealer to the grout lines after cleaning, will form a barrier of protection towards future soiling. The sealer is designed to fill the pores of the grout. This will allow the customer time to clean-up spills, before they penetrate and stain the grout. Unfortunately, sealer does lose it’s effectiveness to protect the staining of the grout. Depending on the frequency of cleanings, sealer may need to be re-applied.
COMMERCIAL CARPET CLEANING
Q: What type of cleaning methods do you use on Commercial Carpets?
We have 2 different types of cleaning methods we can use on commercial carpets. We can use the Hot Water Extraction Method or low moisture Encapsulation Method.
Q: What are the differences of each method?
The Hot Water Extraction method is the method we use for all residential cleaning. With this method we need direct access to the areas to be cleaned. We have the capability to reach areas up to 1000 ft from our truck. Unfortunately, with this method, the entry point of the building must remain open, to allow the hoses from the truck, to reach the areas to be cleaned. If you have a secured building, someone must guard the entrance where the hoses enter the building. Our Encapsulation Method is perfect for large commercial areas. It is a stand alone low moisture system. We apply a specially formulated solution from our Cimex rotary machine. This solution disperses the soil from the carpet fiber and crystallizes it. The crystallize soil then gets removed during your next scheduled vacuuming. This method has very low moisture, and the carpet will be dry within an hour. This method is perfect for high rise office buildings, large convention centers, and any other area where security is an issue.
